Energetic model casting for Adelaide Fashion Festival

Adelaide’s top models and emerging talent have strutted through the official model casting for Adelaide Fashion Festival presented by Mercedes-Benz Adelaide.

Hundreds of fresh faces have lined up at Norwood Town Hall today where the Festival held an open casting for 12 runway shows simultaneously, one of the largest ever undertaken.

Adelaide Fashion Festival (AFF) will run from October 19-23, featuring 10 designer runways and 20 events across five days.

The casting panel included industry powerhouses Adelaide-born internationally renowned stylist Nicole Bonython-Hines and Vogue Australia fashion editor Philippa Moroney.

Both continue their involvement with the festival from last year, styling the dynamic group shows that will feature on the AFF Runway in its new home of Victoria Square.

“The requirement for models always changes with the fashion and at the moment the fashion is fresh, pretty girls – but not necessarily conventionally pretty… it’s probably better if they are unusually pretty,” Bonython-Hines said.

“The local girls will be proud to represent the Adelaide contingent of models and we’ve seen some go on to be internationally relevant models too.”

In the past year Adelaide prodigies Lily Nova (Finesse Models) and Madison Stubbington (Pride Models) have walked in global runway shows for Gucci and Jean Paul Gaultier.

The casting is for 12 shows in total: seven AFF Runway shows, A Night Of Fashion at the Art Gallery, Parades on Norwood Parade, Variety on King William, Runway Marina Pier and Street and Skate Runway Moseley Square.

Models from Finesse Models, Pride Models, Azalea Models, RMT Model and Talent Management, RIN Models, Powell Models and FTM Model Management are all involved in the casting.

“This is a huge opportunity for fresh, young talent to walk in an international-standard runway show and be dressed by Adelaide’s burgeoning design collective,” Adelaide Fashion Festival creative director Chris Kontos said.

“The Adelaide Fashion Festival is very happy to support new faces in all aspects of the industry… It keeps the event relevant and interesting.”
