Our favourite looks from the 2018 Met Gala

Ah, the Met Gala… It’s by far one of our favourite events of the fashion year.

Each year, fashion’s elite step out in some of the most exquisite and daring looks we’ve ever seen. And 2018 has been no different.

This year’s theme, Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination, saw an array of interpretations. From the angelic to the cross-bearing, through to jewel-studded and artistically-inspired – it was hard to pick our highlights.

So instead of just one, we’ve compiled a list of the designs that left us in awe.

We were super proud of local designer Paolo Sebastian, who made his Met Gala debut this year on Entertainment Tonight’s Keltie Knight.

The dress, which was inspired by ‘the Kiss of True Love’ in Sleeping Beauty and The Little Mermaid, was paired with custom Courtney Price earrings paying homage to the fabulous Anna Wintour.

Nothing short of angelic, Kate Bosworth looked stunning in this Oscar de la Renta gown.

Blake Lively can do no wrong.

This bodice on this Versace dress is rumoured to have taken over 600 hours alone to embroid, and we can’t help but say it was well worth the effort.

Also in Versace, Katy Perry strutted her stuff in 6-foot tall angel wings.

Katy’s nothing if not bold.

Rihanna absolutely nailed the theme this year, dressing in a Maison Margiela set that left her looking, well, a little Pope-like.

Jennifer Lopez stopped the show with this bedazzling Balmain dress.

Amal Clooney rocked an absolutely beautiful Richard Quinn gown and pants set.

A fitting choice for the power house woman.

And last but certainly not least, star of the film Black Panther, Chadwick Boseman was looking absolutely sharp as he made his Met Gala debut.

Now we sit back and wait for the coveted after party photos.
