Hey, fashionistas! Iconic Adelaide fashion hub, King William Road, will be holding the Mercedez-Benz Unley Long Lunch this Friday and, we’re telling you now, you won’t want to miss it. Deemed to be a day of undoubted luxury and effortless style, the luncheon will feature two runways and a divine spread of eats, all to the enjoyment of fashion-savvy guests.
In the lead up to this anticipated event of AFF 2017, we went for a stroll down King William Road and picked out a couple fun outfits from retailers Denim Iniquity and Wildchild Stylelab. Our sunny day down KWR consisted of playing dress-ups in the latest trends, local labels and designer threads from these respective hotspots!
It’s been a strong 35 years for Denim Iniquity: a boutique proudly stocking labels such as Bassike, Camilla & Marc and even Adelaide designer Acler (recently worn by the one and only Beyonce!). Having recently celebrated their 35 th birthday with an exclusive soiree at the Mercedes-Benz Unley showroom, Denim Iniquity have been hot on the local fashion scene lately.
Stepping into the boutique, you’re greeted with an exciting explosion of colour and versatility. Racks upon racks of clothing stretch out across the room, keeping you occupied as you shuffle from the front of the room to the back. It’s a shop in which you can spend many, many hours in and truly lose track of time.
Mel’s eyes wandered to the selection of Acler clothing immediately, as she picked up a stunning white dress which she decided would be the perfect outfit for the Mercedes-Benz Unley Long Lunch. Paired with a silk neck-tie from 66 The Label, a ribbed Olga Berg clutch and a pair of reflective, round sunnies, her look was complete. In fact, she later bought the silk tie as it was a most versatile piece and felt seriously soft (Shopping Addiction: 1, Mel: 0). Kristen tried on a sophisticated Rebecca Vallance ensemble with the much sought-after blazer by Camilla & Marc to finish it off, creating an elegant day look.
We’ve always loved Wildchild and their collection of designer threads. With quite the following on Instagram, Wildchild is one we’ve been visiting for a long time, both on social media and popping in to the physical store from time to time. There’s really a little bit of everything on offer, from casual daywear to evening attire, selling the likes of denim pieces, tees, dresses, gowns, skirts, outerwear, an abundance of accessories and more.
Some of our fave Wildchild designer picks are the Australian Fashion Labels collective, Asilio, Alice McCall, Bec & Bridge, Sass & Bide, Lexi clothing, Shakuhaci and Maurie & Eve… and that doesn’t even begin to cover their full list of designers in store!
Mel’s outfit was edgy and playful, with a flare-sleeved, blue wrap top and a buckled, black leather skirt from Asilio. Accessories were key to this look, featuring a clutch from local favourite Katya Komarova, sunnies, a complementary felt hat and a subtle, lacy bralette. Kristen picked out a statement, burnt-orange dress which she dressed down with block-heel sandles and a belt to suit
daytime luncheon attire. We all know ruffles are becoming a big trend this SS17 season, and this particular dress did ruffles excellently.
